Education is the key to opportunity, and you play a vital role.

Every 26 seconds a student drops out of high school in the United States. Dropouts earn $1 million less than college graduates over a lifetime and commit 75% of all crimes. At the same time, employers across the nation continue to struggle to fill rapidly changing jobs across all industry sectors. Due to economic disparities in urban communities minorities, particularly African American Males, continue to lack proper education and are not adequately prepared to enter the 21st Century workforce.

The mission of The Academy for Urban Scholars High School is to lead the nation in educating urban youth by changing the paradigm of how education is delivered in the urban community. We have created a model that produces responsible, educated, productive, and community conscious citizens in the Columbus area. Through the infusion of technology and industry recognized credentials, the goal of AUS is to ensure that our scholars are equipped with the tools to handle college, career, and life!

Since its inception in 2011, The Academy for Urban Scholars has awarded over 100 credentials in the career pathways of Advanced Manufacturing, Allied Health Care, Construction, Information Technology, and Hospitality and Tourism. Although created and operated by primarily African Americans, the organization reaches all demographics of people. The Academy for Urban Scholars High School religiously stands in the gap as it relates to advocacy for all people in spaces in which their voice is silenced.
